WHAT IS EXECUTIVE FUNCTION COACHING AND COULD MY BRAIN, EXPLAINED BE HELPFUL TO ME OR MY CHILD?

Executive function can be best understood as a group of cognitive abilities, housed in our brain. Specifically the frontal lobe or the part of the brain that controls planning, remembering, time management, decision making, organizing, prioritizing, and goal-orientation. These are daily life skills that aid in our memory networks, impulsivity, inhibition, and reasoning, which are all impacted by symptoms of ADHD.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • A one-time per week comprehensive 8 week program

  • Psychoeducation on ADHD and the biological components of the brain (diagnosis, symptoms, brain mapping, and adverse effects)

  • Development of time management skills and restructure of current daily routine

  • Individualized creation of habits, goals and accountability systems

  • Self-designed coping skills toolbox

  • Gained understanding of relationship with self and others to enhance effective communication skills

MY BRAIN, EXPLAINED FAQS:

  • This program is intended for individuals ages 8 through adulthood

  • A previous diagnosis of ADHD is NOT required for program participation

  • This program is not a substitute for clinical psychotherapy and is therefore not billed as sessions that would be covered by insurance

  • Due to the program being a structured coaching service, our therapists will not be providing accommodation letters for 504 plans, IEPs, or IDEAs.
